Organising a halal seminar or corporate event: the guide, from breakfast to cocktail reception
Breakfast, breaks, lunch, cocktail reception: how to organise a halal seminar or corporate event in Paris, with the formats, starting prices and the questions to ask the caterer.
To organise a halal corporate event, the simplest approach is to choose a caterer whose whole menu is halal and pork-free: you then have no separate menu to manage and no guest list to draw up. At L'Écrin Traiteur, that is the case from breakfast to cocktail reception, from €8 per person excl. VAT for a breakfast and from €29.90 excl. VAT for a cocktail reception, delivered in Paris and Île-de-France.
Which format for each moment of the day?
| Moment | Format | Starting price per person excl. VAT | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Morning welcome | Breakfast | €8 | Pastries, fruit, Alain Milliat juice, coffee and tea |
| Morning or afternoon break | Afternoon break | €6 | One pastry (madeleines, cookies, loaf cakes) and one drink |
| Working lunch | Lunch trays | €28.90 | Starter, main, dessert and bread, on an individual tray |
| Quick lunch | Lunch box | €18.90 | Individual format to take into the meeting room |
| Close, evening | Cocktail reception | €29.90 (8 canapés) | Savoury and sweet canapés, alcohol-free bar |
For a full seminar day, allow a welcome breakfast, a break, a lunch and, depending on the programme, a closing cocktail reception. Everything is ordered on a single quote.
Certified halal or halal-friendly: what is the difference?
A certified caterer has its supply chain checked by an external body and can produce the certificate. A halal-friendly caterer commits to the content of its menu, without external checks. L'Écrin Traiteur is in the second case: the whole menu is halal and pork-free, with no alcohol in the recipes, and we do not claim any certification. If your event requires a certificate, ask the caterer for it before the quote, not after.
The questions to ask the caterer
| Item | What raises questions | At L'Écrin |
|---|---|---|
| Meat | Origin and slaughter | Halal across the whole menu, no pork |
| Cured meats | Ham, lardons, saucisson in the savoury canapés | No pork cured meats |
| Sauces and marinades | Wine, beer or alcohol in a reduction | No alcohol in the recipes |
| Desserts | Alcohol in a cream, pork gelatine | No alcohol; ask for the dessert's product sheet if in doubt |
| Drinks | Champagne, wine, beer | 100% alcohol-free drinks menu, 0% Chardonnay for the toast |
How to handle other dietary requirements?
An inclusive event does not stop at halal. Ask your participants, a week ahead, whether they are vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free, and pass the numbers on to the caterer. We prepare these options separately, labelled, so that they reach the right people. Our vegetarian and vegan and gluten-free guides detail what is possible.
How far ahead should you order?
Until 2 pm the day before for a breakfast, lunch trays or a cocktail reception, and 48 hours ahead from 50 people. For a seminar of more than 50 people or a full day, allow a week: time to approve the programme, the timing of each service and the dietary requirements.
